There were so many good teams and stories in the 2008, it could go down as one of the most exiting in quite some time. In the AL you had the Red Sox trying to defend their title, the league's best record-holder the Angel's looking to win their first World Series since the '02 Rally Monkey team, the upstart Rays finally playing in the post-season after 10 years of disappointment for fans, and the White Sox squeezing into the post-season as the AL Central champ.
On the National League side, it will be a long winter for Cubs players and fans. The team was swept in the first round of the post-season on the 100 year anniversary of the team's last World Series title. In the NLCS, Dodgers playoff tickets and Phillies playoff tickets were all the rage. You can bet the Dodgers featuring Manny Ramirez and Joe Torre will be a tough challenge again next year. But you can bet that Ryan Howard and the Phillies will never forget their role in bringing a World Series title to the City of Brotherly Love. They are a tough team with talented and determined players, so the Phillies should be a good team again next year.
World Series recap:
The 2008 season was a long and trying one that saw plenty of highlights. Perhaps the biggest story of the year was the historically-bad Rays leapfrogging to the top of the MLB power charts and getting all of Florida looking for Rays tickets. With a solid squad of talented young players and a starting rotation featuring one of the game's premier lefty's as the ace, the Rays became an American League powerhouse and continued their regular-season heroics with more of the same during the post-season. They dispatched the Brewers easily enough, and for a moment it looked like they were going to steamroll right over the defending champs too. Even after the Red Sox staged the single biggest comeback in a post-season elimination game after trailing by seven runs in the seventh inning, the Rays kept their composure and were able to take down the defending champs in a thrilling game seven. The once baseball punching bag is now the one throwing punches, and everyone in Tampa Bay was looking for Rays World Series tickets.
The Phillies looked like the NL team-to-beat once the Cubs were swept out of the first round. The Phillies had been putting up great numbers all season long, and once they got into the post-season they kept right on doing it. They had one of the league's up-and-coming superstar pitchers Cole Hammels going for them, and he will no doubt challenge opponents for years to come. Then you have the incredible-lineup stacked with great hitters. You can bet that Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley are not going to let up after a Championship, and that's why everyone was looking for Phillies World Series tickets. Don't wait and get your Phillies tickets now.
On the other side of the league fence, the Cubs went from having an incredibly good year to having and horrendously terrible post-season. The Cubs could not get anything going are were swept by the Dodgers. The 100-year anniversary of the Cubs last World Series title was not the curse-breaker many in Wrigleyville were hoping for. Will 101 years be the time? You can bet that Cubs fans will not give up- after all, this is the fanbase that had to live through Steve Bartman.
The post-season aside, Cubs tickets will once again be hot item next season.
The Red Sox were bruised and battered all year, but played well in the first round of the playoffs. We will see how far they go next season. With the fierceness of Red Sox Nation, you can bet Red Sox tickets will be a hot item.
The action wasn't any less in the NLCS. By adding Manny Ramirez, arguably the games best hitter and a World Series MVP, the Dodgers became a team to be reckoned with and kicked demand for Dodgers tickets into high gear.
The Phillies looked good all year and have two of the games best players in Ryan Howard and last year's MVP Jimmy Rollins.
